thread237-127598: Y Start / Delta Run, but 'normal' Motor Y Run?
hello every one.
i have motor 30 kw , 3 phase,9 leads,with installed 440 volt, 60 hz. actually the 9 leads terminal is connected as follow :
1 , 2 ,3 , 4&7,5&8, 6&9. this is sex terminal.
my question is : how i can connected it for soft starting???
choice no 1 : connect three phase 440 v to the terminal 1,2,3.
choice no 2 : as the big motor need star delta starting, how i can connect wye-delta connection to the terminal of the motor ?????
what is the correct choice 1 or 2.

please advise me.

RE: thread237-127598 hello every o

A nine lead delta motor has three internal connections that are not accessible. Six lead motors may be connected in star or delta, but 9 lead motors can not be.
You need to buy a soft starter or a Variable Frequency Drive.
If this is an easy starting load you may use a soft starter.
If this is a hard staring load that needs full torque you may need a VFD.
Your motor may be star or delta. The connections for both at the higher voltage are the same.
It doesn't matter if the motor is star or delta.
