PCI Slot Extension

(OP)
Is it possible to add more PCI slots by simply joining more slots in parallel with one existing one? i assume this would be impossible because each slot must be addressed, yes?

RE: PCI Slot Extension

PCI slots are tied in parallel with one exception.  As you suspected, each slot must be addressed or selected.  The IDSEL signal allows for that.  Each PCI device (including devices connected through slots) must be tied to one of the upper AD lines.  According to the PCI spec, you start with AD16 for device 0 through AD31 for device 16.  Hope that helps.
