STANDARDS AND SPECS ABOUT PAINT

STANDARDS AND SPECS ABOUT PAINT

STANDARDS AND SPECS ABOUT PAINT

(OP)
We design in our dept. all mechanical parts for data comunication products.
I'm looking for specifications and/or standards for paint for indoor use.
What I need is a list of properties of the paint according to a paint standard.

RE: STANDARDS AND SPECS ABOUT PAINT

Contact some paint manufacturers and you will find they offer free info if you are likely to specify their product.
Start with a web search and take it from there with manufacturers in your state or local area.

ASTM D 6577-00a Standard Guide for Testing Industrial Protective Coatings is an excellent place to start.  It covers practically every conceivable property that can be tested, and is split into the following categories:

Liquid Coating Properties
Application and Film Formation
Appearance of Dry Film
Properties of Dry Film
Performance of Dry Film

You can obtain this standard directly from ASTM using the following link:

Other information on standards can be obtained from organizations such as SSPC:

The following links provide examples of data sheets from coating manufacturers:

And this last link is a guide from Sherwin Williams (they do industrial, automotive, and aerospace coatings as well) on how to specify paint coatings:
