(OP)
Is there a way to select a parametric feature (ie: datum plane) by way of name selection filter, outside of the view boundary for dimensioning?

Our files are setup with margin lines at the X Y and Z absolute locations and we are able to select these margins by name with the name selection filter - however if we want to establish a datum feature we would have to draw a basic curve line and name it ie: datuma, datumb, datumc..etc. The only other ways are to expand into the view and find the curves that define the datum or the datum plane and manually pick them - or if the datum plane is named you can pick it if it is visible within the view boundary lines, but that defeats the purpose of my initial question.

Thanks -

Geoff
