NX 7.5 Core pin / Ejector pin identification & text constraining:

(OP)
Good morning folks!
I am looking for a way to constrain text in a 3D model that will size according to the pin size selected. Core pins and ejector pins as you all know are slightly different sizes and require different tooling to install in the steel. I want to have text show up in my model (that can then be exported to an iges file) which the cnc operator can read in to easily identify Core pins from Ejector pins.

I can get the text to show up in the correct reference set and even can control the height of the text via formula. But when I try to constrain the text length the value (formula) defaults to a numerical value in the dialog box and it doesn't retain the formula. In other words... after I create the text, use the drop downs in the dialog box to set the formula up... CLOSE the dialog box and then go back and edit the text the formula for the text length is not retained. The height field is greyed out and when I click on that you can see the formula in the expression editor... but the length is just a numerical value.

Is this a bug?

And finally... I also would like to anchor the text to a point so it is always at the CL of the pin being installed.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

Have a fantastic day!
Nemo
