Imperfection and scratch of face of flange
Imperfection and scratch of face of flange
(OP)
Dear All,
We have vessel shipped to jobsite and found pitting on the face of flange.
I looked at ASME PCC-1, Table D-2, but it only talks about acceptable imperfection for "soft-faced gasket", which is not applicable to "soft gasket" such as spiral-wound that we are using. The pitting is about 0.008" deep in gasket seating area, and 0.011" in non-gasket seating area.
Does any one know where I can find an acceptable imperfection criteria for spiral-wound gasket seating surface? or is it mandatory to re-face ?
Thanks for you immediate help.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
