Question on Drafting Preferences

Question on Drafting Preferences

Question on Drafting Preferences

(OP)
Dont think it makes a difference in this but just in case, we are setting up NX11.

In Preferences - Drafting - View - Common - Configuration

There is a setting for "Representation"

In the past, we found that if we left this on EXACT, it would stop our Stocklist and Balloons program from working right. (I think that is a GM program we use). When adding the balloons to the different bodies of a weldment, you need to select the body/select where you want the balloon to go/then select the edge of the body to connect the leader to it. That last part wouldnt work because the views wouldnt show us the edges but instead create lines in their place. To fix this we found we needed that setting on "Exact (Pre-NX8.5)". ..... Does anyone else use this setting or does everyone leave it on the default "Exact"?

In Customer Defaults I had to do a search with "Exact" to find the correct settings. I cant find another way to get to these settings.

I am having a hard time knowing what I should have checked and unchecked in this area.
I am attaching what I think we want, but was wondering if I have anything that shouldnt be checked or need to check something or change a setting.

onyone know much about this area?

RE: Question on Drafting Preferences

If the view representation impacts the results when using a GM program, you should speak to your contact at GM to see what they recommend. Other than that, here is a link to a comparison of the view types (taken from the NX 12 help, but I think it also applies to NX 11).
