You might be getting more questions from me on NX11 in the near future as we are just now switching over and I am helping to get everything running smooth with the buttons and just finding how to do anything that is different..... So on with the first question....

I find where you can change the background to gray and such, but when I went into preferences and tried to change it to blue, it would not take. It would always change to black or white but not colors. Is there a trick to this or did something go wrong with my install?

RE: NX11 Back Ground Color

Where did you change this preference, exactly? Remember that changing the customer defaults will only affect a new, blank file; otherwise, you will need to change the preference in the individual part file.

Edit: The drafting application has a "monochrome" option that will show the drawing in black and white regardless of the background color option you have set.

RE: NX11 Back Ground Color

Menu->Preferences->Background is where you can do it for the individual part file.

Ah, I dont know what happened but now it is working. I did try it through Preferences -> Background and for some reason it would not change colors. I went to Visualization Preferences to make sure Monochrome was turned off and it was unchecked. I tried going to Drafting and changing the background color from there just so I could say I tried it, and it changed. Now I can go to modeling and change it and it works there now too.

Not sure if by going to the preferences visualization just reset something like a glitch, or if making the change in Drafting did something to reset it. But now it all works right. Go figure. lol
