Diesel engine silencer routing

Diesel engine silencer routing

(OP)
I am no engineer (Ag. background) but am just curious. We have recently installed 4 diesel engines in our processing plant and I am interested in reducing their sound. So I had G.I. pipes(over size) run out from the engine to about 10 ft outside the unit.I was told that this could cause back pressure problems and of course the union at the exhaust mufler breaking loose.
1) Is there any flexible metal pipe available in the indian market that I can use for the union between the exhaust and the G.I. pipe?
2) Is using the G.I. pipe justified?
3) How can I further reduce sound?
The engines specs are:
1- 8bhp, 1500 rpm, 1inch exhaust outlet
2- 5bhp, 1500 rpm, 3/4 inch exhaust outlet
3- 23bhp, 1500 rpm, 2inch exhaust outlet.
The first two are kirloskar and the third a Ruston, and all are air-cooled. The pipes run for about 20-40ft from the engines.
