Hello,

Is it an MOC if there is need for replacing a ball valve for another in a pig trap: Both same pressure rating, size, both full port, both NACE, same flange size, etc. but different manufactures. There might be some different in physical features/looks but they are technically mostly the same. ?

As much as possible, do it right the first time...

RE: MOC Replacemet in Kind (Like for Like) Same eqiupment, different manufacturer

From your description it doesn't sound like a MOC to me, more like a simple maintenance issue.

Each company MOC is different though and there should be some sort of procedure or checklist or decision flowpath to determine if it has to go through an MOC procedure or not. You need to find it and follow it.

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Just to add on LittleInch, check whether the ball valve you want to replace is a tag item. Tagged items are specifically set up if your company uses a CMMS system, otherwise the spare parts set up will mix up and mess up the maintenance. No two manufaturers spares will be interchangable.

The MOC isn't arisen by the different manufacturers. It is an "In-kind" valves replacement once these valves are complied with the same Spec requirement, and the Codes of fabrication, inspection, and testing procedures.
