Ansys Workbench/Mechanical Memory Options

Ansys Workbench/Mechanical Memory Options

(OP)
Hi,
I have a pretty good pc at work with 28gigs of memory and the processor is Xeon 2 core 3+ hertz. But even a small model takes ages to solve. I notice that my colleague who is running Ansys on a lower spec machine, and when he is running similar models it doesn't take a lot of time.

Am I missing something here?. Is there any way to boost the performance of workbench by tweaking memory options. I noticed that when Ansys Mechanical Solver is running the memory usage in windows task manager is only 8 gigs.

RE: Ansys Workbench/Mechanical Memory Options

Is your colleague using the same number of cores to solve as you? Direct or iterative solver?
Check solve.out to see how much memory your analysis requires and actually uses.
It might fluctuate during solve, for example during writing on disk.
