Clevis "Max D"

Clevis "Max D"

(OP)
AISC 13th Table 15-3

If I require a 1" diameter tension rod, it appears obvious that I require a #3 Clevis. However, I'm concerned that a 1" diameter inside a max 1.38" Clevis will be too loose.

I specify #2.5 clevises frequently for 3/4" rods, but there, the difference is only 1/8".

I'm concerned about the 3/8" difference comparing the 1" rod with the 1.38" clevis.

Is this a concern?

Advice?

Thank you!
