Bonded contact between 2 faces(area)- APDL

Bonded contact between 2 faces(area)- APDL

(OP)
Hi,

I need to create bonded contact between 2 areas/faces. The total faces are 62 and should be 31 contacts faces. I have reviewed several suggestions but just want to ask opinions;

which one is the better method in creating bonded contact (with the assumption of perfectly bonded);

1. aglue - gluing faces
2. merge nodes between faces - nummrg
3. surface to surface contact - MPC-bonded always

for each faces, it comprised of steel and rubber materials. For now, i created surf to surf with MPC (bonded always) but i never succeed where error such as ;

Try incrementing the load more slowly (increase the number of substeps or decrease the time step size). You may need to improve your mesh to obtain elements with better aspect ratios. Also consider the behavior of materials, contact pairs, and/or constraint equations. If this message appears in the first iteration of first substep, be sure to perform element shape checking.)

I am really appreciate for helps

Thanks

RE: Bonded contact between 2 faces(area)- APDL

MPC bonding is the best for me at the most scenarios.

Without knowing your exact model, it seems difficult to find our the root cause for the error message that you posted. However, I have an idea that may help you: try the Workbench and generate the MAPDL input script to see the best (maybe) settings. Best of luck.

Knowledge Resource #2046038 has some tips on contacts and convergence issues for hyperelastic models.
