ACI 318-99 vs 02

ACI 318-99 vs 02

ACI 318-99 vs 02

(OP)
Is anyone familiar with the basic diference between these two versions?  I am taking the PE in April, and only want to purchase one version.  Curently, NCEES wants the 99 version.  If there are major differences, do I need to be prepared to buy the 02 version if I pass?

RE: ACI 318-99 vs 02

The load factors (1.7L, 1.4D, etc.) are different from 318-99 to 318-02.  They then changed the phi factors correspondingly.  The old load factors and phi factors are in an appendix but it might be very confusing to keep this straight during the exam.  The other changes would probably not affect any exam problems.
I would borrow a copy of 318-99 for the exam.

Thanks for the info.  Sounds like you are right, I will try to borro 99 and buy 02 later.

Thanks again

Good decision.  You'd hate to go into a big exam without all the recommended references.  If it made a difference you'd kick yourself.  Good luck!
