P.E Civil- Structural

P.E Civil- Structural

Has anyone taken the P.E civil- structural this Oct, and passed.

How many hours did you study for per week? Any practice tests for the structural test?

Also, is it worth paying for the PPI exam café- are the questions close enough to the test for the AM and PM portion.

RE: P.E Civil- Structural

I passed April 2017. I studied for probably 80 hours (most people will recommend 2-300 though). Most of what I did was practice exams. Official NCEES, and then PPI problems. Study however best suits you. If you got a lot out of lectures in college, or thrive in scheduled environments rather than choosing your own pace, then take a class. I didn't get much out of lectures, all of my learning in shcool was by working example problems. I even had a class where I showed up maybe 4 out of the 40 class periods and still got one of the highest grades. So that's all I did - practice exams.

Also, this forum is more geared towards work related engineering problems. For exam studying/tips/licensure/etc. I recommend engineerboards.com

Thank you Cal91. I hadn't heard about the other website before. thanks.

RE: P.E Civil- Structural

Study as much as you feel you need. I didn’t count my hours but I basically read the CERM and did a bunch of problems/sample exams because I felt I was weak in the non-structural areas. I clearly didn’t want to take the test again so I put in a fair amount of time. If I had to guess maybe 150 hours.

RE: P.E Civil- Structural

I studied for 10 years...
