Scale of linear static output

Scale of linear static output

Scale of linear static output

(OP)
I am do a linear static analysis using 100 N. If I want to know the displacement and stress for 10 N, Can I just scale down the stress and displacement?

How accurate is the scaled result?

RE: Scale of linear static output

Hai,

Finite element software gives exactly proportional results for linear static analysis. But it mayn't behave so in real life.

Thanks, E.logesh:

Does linear static give proportional results for displacement only? or on all results such as stress, strain, etc.

Best regards.

RE: Scale of linear static output

oso,

All results are linear (for the same node). In fact it is very common when doing a linear elastic analysis (small displacements) to use a unit force and scale the results.
