Temporary Shoring Loads

Temporary Shoring Loads

Temporary Shoring Loads

(OP)
Hi,

I am new to this forum, I wanted to ask if there are anyone here on how to decide what shoring can be used to repair a suspended slab. It is a small area 12" x 12" at the edge of the wall.
It may not be necessary to have shoring but I wanted to know how its calculated.

Design loads from P1 level
Live Load 2.4 kPa
Dead Load 4.8 kPa
Electrical/Membrane 1 kPa

SOG assumed bearing capacity of 50 kPa

How do I decide what type of shoring I will need?

Regards

HSOHL

RE: Temporary Shoring Loads

Depends on the slab... depending on loading I usually make some conservative assumptions (in your case probably assuming a one way span of the slab) get an upper bound on the loading, check punching shear (unless this is ok by inspection). Provide the shoring in a such manner that you haven't altered how the slab is distributing load, unless you want to get deep into some analysis.
