Bolts through Concrete

Bolts through Concrete

(OP)
For bolts through concrete, loaded in double shear, what kind of bolts are typical to prescribe for relatively low loads? I believe an A325 bolt @ 1/2 inch diameter would work. However I need it to be minimum 10" long and I don't know if the bolt is manufactured at that length or for this application. Thanks for your time and help.

RE: Bolts through Concrete

I would be leaning towards F1554 threaded rod with washers and nuts at each end. It's available in a few different grades so you should be able to get what you need

RE: Bolts through Concrete

A36 rod is better for ductility. Ductility allows the anchors to deform and distribute load.

Thru-bolting anchors in double shear is a difficult thing for contractors to align. I recommend specifying an epoxy adhesive to fill the hole, even if it's thru-bolted.
