Haiti Wind and Seismic Date

I am performing some volunteer structural design for a small church that will be constructed in Haiti. Does anyone know how to obtain wind and seismic data for Haiti?

RE: Haiti Wind and Seismic Date

Google "wind speed Caribbean" and it will pull up several pertinent documents for that part of it.
I don't know if there are any official design criteria or engineering practice restrictions.

RE: Haiti Wind and Seismic Date

Presuming you don't have any legally governing design documents, I know of the following:

Seismic
Wind

If you have questions, I'd recommend you contact Engineering Ministries International (www.emiworld.org). They have a lot of experience on these sorts of projects and can probably answer a lot of questions you'll have (potentially including whether any more specific design documents are currently in place).

Thank you so much Lomarandil,
I google this but none of this came up. I will contact Engineering Ministries Int.

RE: Haiti Wind and Seismic Date

They don't have any wind speeds for Haiti, but the United States DoD structural engineering code (UFC 3-301-01) does list the following seismic data for Haiti:

Port-au-prince - Ss = 1.89, S1 = 0.79
Cap-Haitien - Ss = 1.50, S1 = 0.60

Thank you Mr. Hershey

RE: Haiti Wind and Seismic Date

It isn't exactly Haiti, but Puerto Rico is at least in the same vicinity, and the ASCE 7-10 code gives wind speeds for Puerto Rico. You might begin there for some numbers to use as a starting basis.
