ASME div.2 pressure vessel suitable for IBR?

ASME div.2 pressure vessel suitable for IBR?

ASME div.2 pressure vessel suitable for IBR?

(OP)
Dear expert,

We shall deliver a pressure vessel to an Indian customer who requested an IBR certification. We have some questions:
- The pressure vessel shall work at maximum 60°C and is not under fire. IBR does apply anyway?
- Does an ASME sec. VIII div. 2 pressure vessel can be accepted by IBR? The vessel shall work at 330 bar for this reason we choose div.2 instead than div.1

Thanks for your time
Regards
Michele

RE: ASME div.2 pressure vessel suitable for IBR?

IBR is an Indian statutory authority for monitoring power boilers and vessels where steam is produced at a pressure in excess of 3.5 bar.
Since, there is no possibility of steam being produced at 60C, you do not require IBR certification.

However, it could be a possibility that this vessel is connected to other equipment that are under IBR. Still you do not have any obligation for IBR certification.
