Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

(OP)
Good morning everyone,
I kindly ask you something, namely could someone help me with calculation wall thickness
for cylindrical shell under external pressure acc. EN 13445-3 chapter 8 and dimensionals
& parameters of work given at sketch in attachment.
Result in my calculation it is possible (I used VVD) 16mm? is it correct?
I don't have a lot of experience in mentioned above calculation?
but common sense says the thickness is too very large. Moreover I use stiffened of course.
I choose light stiffener spiral shaped around the cylinder shell.
Could somebody help me? because I could be more wrong about that.
Thank you in advance!

Members here will always help you, but as you have sketched, it's not your problem that needs help, it's you. I dont mean to be ironic in any sense, but this is something better left to an experienced engineer. Look for, or hire, someone in your company to help, train and mentor you. And then solve the problem.

Thank you. It is very helpful. I just asking that result is possible?
perhaps one of you met solution for that problems on his experience road.
another time I should ask what is steel? or question level like that.
But please....I don't mean to be ironic in any sense.machinegun

RE: Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

Sorry but Im not gonna bother answering your specific question.

RE: Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

mw87, I don't know EN 13445-3, but under ASME Sec VIII, Div 1, one would need to also know the cylinder material, length and design temperature to answer the question.

So, yeah, at 0.7 MPa, 16mm could be correct.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

SnTMan thank you!

RE: Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

Wow.....just Wow....please don't build based on SnTMan's response.....you don't even know enough to tell he is being facetious.

RE: Thk. shell thicknes under external pressure

Yeah, please don't... I said COULD... maybe... possibly...

On the other hand, maybe not.... dead wrong... no way...

No way to tell.

david339933, not entirely facetious :)
