As the subject. I did google it but cannot find one can deal with AISC 360-16.

RE: Any software can do the connection design against AISC 360-16

It's probably a bit too new for software companies at this time.

Any reason you need to use the new code? I wasn't aware anything had adopted it.

Thank you for your response. I did google it and noticed this situation. Actually all new steel structural designs are required to comply with the latest code which includes some additional provisions.

RE: Any software can do the connection design against AISC 360-16

The state adopts IBC, which references other codes. Where I live, the states adopts IBC 2015 which references AISC 360-10.

AISC 360-16 has not been adopted yet. Right now, it's probably being used by programmers to update their software. And they're probably pointing out all of the first printing errors that AISC made.

RE: Any software can do the connection design against AISC 360-16

We try to stay up on the codes, especially the AISC Steel codes in our software at Bentley, including Ram Connection. Some of our colleagues even serve on AISC Committees.

RE: Any software can do the connection design against AISC 360-16

OP: with most jurisdictions the code in effect is the one stipulated in the current code... some don't get upgraded for several years after introduction.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to be precise the IBC would be the adopted code, which then references standards, of which AISC 360 would be one.

That doesn't materially change what folks have said here already.

RE: Any software can do the connection design against AISC 360-16

jittles...IBC might be the adopted code, but pay attention to the edition. In Chapter 35 you will find the referenced standards/subcodes. Each lists the applicable standard/subcode. These are the ones to be referenced/followed for legal compliance....

Thank you everyone. I agree with you that AISC 360-16 has not been applied in the states.

ICC published IBC 2018 last month, which references AISC 360-16.
