Material Identification
Material Identification

What does 384/80/19 stand for? I know 384 is aluminum, but i'm having trouble identifying the other two numbers. I'm using a Niton Analyzer and the material i'm shooting is A356. Is this the same as 384/80/19?

RE: Material Identification
In A356, grade 6 has a minimum of 80 ksi UTS and 18.0% elongation. Although those numbers match closely, grade 8 is a 1%C, 1%Mo, Va alloy. I dont htink it has anything to do aluminum.
RE: Material Identification
It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.
