Fluke 87 problem

Fluke 87 problem

RE: Fluke 87 problem

Looks like a blown cap. If you can get a replacement and solder it in it might come back to life. Maybe...

RE: Fluke 87 problem

The meter may still be under warranty so Fluke might fix it for you. I blew one up years ago and they repaired it for free.

As for the damage, the failure appears to be around the input circuitry so my guess would be that you over-voltaged it and the protection circuitry blew up. Of course, not a complete guess because that's what the one I blew up looked like inside.

(OP)
i think the vairestor got burned due to voltage surge, but still i have error in readings, when i put my selector on daiode mode it give me error readings with sound

RE: Fluke 87 problem

Looks like an MOV is toast. From the PCB layout that's a fairly young meter and is probably under warranty, so get in touch with Fluke and see what they can offer. What did you connect it to? The 87 is a pretty robust meter.
