RE: non conformance report for welding repair

Typically, the answer to that question is no, but it can be dependent on other factors;

1. Contracts by the end user - they may require notification by NCR of "major" weld repairs. Major weld repairs are usually defined by the end user in the contracts.

2. Requirements of your company's ASME quality control manual. What does it say?

RE: non conformance report for welding repair

Depends on what your QC manual states. I do not issue any NCRs for defects shown by RT, but have a clause in manual stating:
"When weld repairs detected during production welding are repaired using a qualified WPS, an NCR is not generated.". This clause was added during our last tri-annual review.
