Fire Fighting Ring
Fire Fighting Ring
(OP)
hello
I want to know about "Fire Fighting Ring" term in refinery and petrochemical plants.
What is this Ring exactly?
Which standard should be used for design and inspection?
Is there any differences between Fire Fighting Ring for tanks with Utilities?
thank you

RE: Fire Fighting Ring
If so, it is a loop header that supplies water to the facility. It is a loop to mitigate single point failures (meaning you can flow one way around the loop or the other in the event of a line break). NFPA 24 and 25 should have all the info you need.
RE: Fire Fighting Ring
The ring for the site is as MFJ describes. Often it is a series of rings, but usually set up so that if one section needs to be repaired, then isolating valves can be closed such that the minimum number of hydrants or posts is disconnected ( usually max of 2)
