New Stair Opening in Exist. 8" RC Slab

Folks, there is an opening to be done in multistory residential RC building. Please see attached sketch. The opening is a stair opening to connect two apt. to create a duplex. It's a multistory residential building, 60-70 years old... As per sketch, the opening is considered close to RC column (30 x 6 per old structural plans). There is a reinforcement proposed as per sketch..(hopefully legible enough) What do you think about the way of reinforcing it like that? Also, how would you temporarily shore the slab ? Dead Load is much higher than LL since it's residential. Shouldn't DL be spread over 2-3 floors..? Thank you for all thoughts.

I'm not sure I understand your sketch but more importantly, have you done any analysis?

What are the existing loads? What are the new loads? What is the existing reinforcing? Have you checked flexure? Shear? Punching? Development of cut bars? Deflection?

DETstru - I am sharing here because I have concerns because I know it wasn't checked. PE who I work with came up with this solution based on his 40 years of experience..I am not even engaged in this project - just curious..
