Distribution Impact Assessment Query

Distribution Impact Assessment Query

Distribution Impact Assessment Query

(OP)
Hi all,

I am currently conducting a distribution impact assessment using a steady state load flow from ETAP. The electrical distribution is a local cooperative using 34.5 kV nominal and our diesel gen is 480 V stepped up to 34.5 kV by a step up transformer. The PCC is at the 34.5 kV interconnection.

I am using ETAP’s regular load flow program and not the unbalanced load flow. Hence I am not able to assess voltages at each phases. In this case, my entire distribution is represented as three phase and the analyses are in three phase.

Will this be acceptable for preliminary studies?

Thank you for any comments and suggestions from experienced folks

RE: Distribution Impact Assessment Query

Define preliminary studies. What do you have to check? Your method could be enough for a balanced 3 phase network but do you expect to supply single phase loads as well?

This is a rural community abd they will have single phase line-line primary connected pole mounted transforners across different phases on a line circuit. My software can only do three phase and I was planning to review their distribution system abd lump concentration of loads in an area as three phase lump equivalents.
