Seismic Overstrength factor for anchors

Seismic Overstrength factor for anchors

Is seismic Overstrength factor = 1 for post-installed anchors in both concrete & masonry for Seismic Design Category B ?

RE: Seismic Overstrength factor for anchors

Seismic overstrength values are given in ASCE 7. I don’t have it in front of me but there might be exceptions for SDC B areas. I live in SDC D country so I always include it. For MEP it’s usually 2.5.

RE: Seismic Overstrength factor for anchors

(OP)
Yes, what I was hoping for was an exception for SDC “B”. Also is 2.5 only for factored loads with reduction for service load calcs?

RE: Seismic Overstrength factor for anchors

(OP)
Use of 2.5 would completely preclude use of post installed anchors.

Hilti already puts s FOS of 6 on anchors to CMU.
