HFO Storage Tank Roof Truss in operating level

HFO Storage Tank Roof Truss in operating level

Hi,

Is there an issue when the roof truss of a supported cone roof of a HFO Storage tank is below the tank operating volume level?
That is the truss bottom chord will always be wetted by product when the tank is completely filled.
Thanks

RE: HFO Storage Tank Roof Truss in operating level

It is quite common to have roof structural members that extend below the maximum product depth. The potential problems would be corrosion issues or potential building up or freezing on the structural members if the product can freeze (as in water tanks).

Many thanks for your reply JStephen
the top most strake and the inside of the roof plates will be painted for corrosion protection. so will the truss.
it is good to know it is a common practice so my clients should expect it.
