Fee/cost for design of a residential post tensioned slab on ground
Fee/cost for design of a residential post tensioned slab on ground
(OP)
I have a question on the engineering fee/cost for design of a residential post tensioned slab on ground. And, the question is, how much is a reasonable price? I am a transportation person and need to have someone to do the work for me. No experience and no time to do it myself.
I understand that they charge per square foot. now, is that the square footage of the slab or the livable space (say in the case of a two story house)?
What is a reasonable fee per square foot?
any input is appreciated.

How large a slab? and what is the soil like? What type of loading? You need reasonable plan dimension for post-tensioning. This can be expensive and why not conventional reinforced concrete? Is a geotekkie involved? I would think (if I were doing it) there would be two sheets of notes (short specs)(@8 hours engineering) and one sheet for plan and sections... (@40-50 hours engineering and drafting).
The comments likely reflect that a real estate salesman gets more for selling a house than an engineer gets for designing it.
