Structural frame stability
Structural frame stability
(OP)
Hi all.
Need a clarification on designing and fabricating a grip hoist supporting structural member. We have decided to fabricate a structural member as shown in the attached document. We will be lifting a load of 3 MT through this setup. The lifting capacity of the grip hoist is 3.2 ton.
1.Can the grip hoist supporting structure withstand this load?
2.What calculations and parameters we need to look in for its structural stability?
3.Instead of the square tube shown in the diagram, can we use ISMC 100*50 C channel?(5mm thick)
If additional information of the parts is required for better understanding kindly reply. I will try to upload the required details.
Thank you.

RE: Structural frame stability
Specific calculations for your design- that should come from you or from an engineer you hire, not from this website.

2. If you don't know, find someone who does.
3. Not recommended.
