Plywood Connection
Plywood Connection
(OP)
I have been tasked with designing a steel to plywood connection. In this instance, I need to calculate the withdrawal value of some screws that I am using for the connection. I have a copy of the technical note provided by the APA titled "Fastener Load for Plywood-Screws". While this is a great paper, the values I need for the connection fall just shy of what is provided in this paper.
Does anyone have any other data for calculating screw capacity or no of any screw manufacturers that have published test data for the withdrawal values of screws?

RE: Plywood Connection
The screws have little "wings" on the sides to facilitate drilling through the wood and the end point is a self-drilling type.
Look in Hilti's "Product Technical Guide Vol. 1 - Direct Fastening".

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
