API 674 pulsation approach 1 and approach 2 requirements

API 674 pulsation approach 1 and approach 2 requirements

(OP)
I'm trying to get gain some clarity regarding to the requirements for design analysis for pulsation and vibration mentioned in API 674; it mentions that the purchaser should specify the requirement for this analysis if required. Annex C of API 674 goes on to describe the different approaches for this analysis.

My query is as follows:
1. Under what circumstances do we specify the requirement for this analysis? is there any rule of thumb (differential pressure/power requirement) which we can apply when deciding this is required?
2. If required, when do we specify approach 1, and when do we specify approach 2?
3. Is this a standard analysis that we ask from an OEM/packager?

Thanks,
PNCW
