DETAILING REINFORCED CONCRETE COLUMNS IN TENSION
DETAILING REINFORCED CONCRETE COLUMNS IN TENSION

Hi guys,
Any tips on how to detail columns in tension? Any reference materials?

- Keep an eye on the detailing at the connections to whatever you're connecting to at the member ends. Usually this makes for somewhat painful shear/punching shear considerations.
- I'd recommend running a calc on expected crack width, particularly if the columns will be exposed or in a corrosive environment.
I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
