Dear all,
We need to do machining of Nimonic 80-A.and after that we need to do heat treatment for increasing the hardness . So doing this what are the point we need to take care
And will there anyb change the %of elements like Nikal and chromium in the metal after heat treatment ? Please help

If you review the Special Metals information on Nimonic 80A, see the excerpt below

Machining
NIMONIC alloy 80A should be in the fully heat treated
condition for all machining operations
. The high material
hardness in this condition (250-350 HV) requires the use of
stringent machining techniques. Further advice is available
from Special Metals Corporation

I would suggest you download this information and review it. Also, discuss with Special Metals representatives, they are very knowledgeable about their product line.
