Resources for estimating high volume manufacturing costs

Resources for estimating high volume manufacturing costs

Resources for estimating high volume manufacturing costs

(OP)

I am searching for resources (books, websites, consultants, etc.) that I can use for assessing manufacturing costs in high volume production (i.e. plastic injection molding, die casting, sand casting, investment casting, machining, etc.).  I need help making high level cost assessments of various design concepts for an automotive blower. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

RE: Resources for estimating high volume manufacturing costs

sdk,

Try to check out any papers or reports issued by IBIS Associates, Inc. (www.ibisassociates.com). They have a developed a methodology called Technical Cost Modeling. It has been used to develop volume dependant costing strategies for many applications.

Try these Google.com searches:
www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=Technical+Cost+Modeling
www.google.com/search?num=50&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&newwindow=1&q=Technical+Cost+Modeling+IBIS
