west coast roof framing preferences

(OP)
I know west coast states like timber panelized roof systems over steel joists and decks for larger flat roofs, curious if there is a region specific (i.e. seismic or economic) reason or just preference? Also curious about typical smaller pre-engineered sloped roof wood trusses preferences in west coast; i.e. is 24" o.c. spacing the norm as in other parts of the county, or is wider spacing with infill members preferred?

RE: west coast roof framing preferences

We use timber because of availability. Lot's of Doug Fir growing around here, thus lower cost.

24" o.c. for wood trusses (typically metal webs) or TJI's, with plywood decking, is fairly common. I've been seeing more and more at 48" o.c. with thicker plywood. No sub-purlins.

I read a lot of articles/references about panelized roofs with sub-purlins (with larger spacing between trusses) but have never done it myself.
