Any prefab lugs there

Any prefab lugs there

Any prefab lugs there

(OP)
lugs shall be good for 17000 lbs to be attached to concrete.
Do we need to fabricate lugs or there are pre-manufactured lugs out there we can buy them?

Thanks

RE: Any prefab lugs there

What are these lugs being used for? What's your thickness and edge distances?

A lot of the lifting points we use for in precast are good for 17,000 lbs with a 4:1 safety factor.

To lift or help to stabilize the lift of heavy turbin parts.

I don't know if there are any prefabricated ones with that load capacity that u can buy and not wait for fabrication?

What are couple of lug manufacturers that carry/sell lugs at this load rate?

Thanks

RE: Any prefab lugs there

Check out Dayton Superior or ALP Supply for their precast lifting systems. You'll need to get custom lifting attachments to bolt onto the pins but otherwise these are easy to use. These are very common in precast and should be readily available. You may be able to even source them locally by buying the lifting pins from a local precaster and renting their lifting hardware.

StrP88:
Lifting those kinds of parts and equipment, you would probably be better off designing and making you own lifting lugs to match the actual equip. I didn’t look, but the lugs that TME is mentioning are probably fairly generic and would probably need modification to fit your turbine parts. And, this may be as much work as making your own lugs to fit. If they are to “help to stabilize the lift of heavy turbin parts,” they may be as simple as a shackle pin through a bolt hole in the part.

RE: Any prefab lugs there

Crosby makes lifting lugs, but mostly for steel... I guess they could be attached to a plate that uses headed studs.

RE: Any prefab lugs there

Perhaps I'm confused. Are your parts you're lifting steel or concrete? The way I interpreted it was that you were lifting something that was concrete.

If you're lifting steel then I'd suggest a hoist ring in a drilled and tapped hole.
