Guess That 1974 Nozzle Description!

Guess That 1974 Nozzle Description!

Guess That 1974 Nozzle Description!

(OP)
I'm staring at a detail drawing from 1974 and in the bill of material the description of the nozzle contains some abbreviations to which I'm not accustomed. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what the abbreviations mean. Any help would be appreciated.

10" 300# SML. F.S. LG. WELD NK STD BORE F&D (FLAT FACE)

I have the drawing and it looks like a long weld neck with weld overlay. My guesses are:

1) 10" 300#
2) SML. = ? seamless (are LWN called out like this?)
3) F.S. = ? (just a detail of a nozzle, so no view that would indicate this means "far side")
4) LG. WELD NK = long weld neck
5) STD BORE = standard bore
6) F&D = ? (not flanged and dished)
7) FLAT FACE = flat face

Thanks in advance for any feedback anyone may have.

RE: Guess That 1974 Nozzle Description!

Guessing here, F.S is forged steel, F&D is faced and drilled?

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

I think those are good guesses. One thing I didn't mention which may be important is that this is a field fabricated vessel, so maybe there are call-outs that would not normally appear in a drawing for a shop fabricated vessel?

RE: Guess That 1974 Nozzle Description!

Wouldn't know, really, but I'd guess a whole host of drafting, purchasing and supply practices have changed since '74.

Megyesy shows FS = Far Side or Forged Steel, just shows F&D as Flanged and Dished, though.
