Defining an individual datum and pattern datum at same time

Defining an individual datum and pattern datum at same time

Defining an individual datum and pattern datum at same time

(OP)
Howdy!

Let's say I have a bulkhead the has 5 holes thru it and each hole has identical features controlled relative to it (5X INDIVIDUAL [DATUM]). Now it seems I need to control some outer features of the profile to the pattern of those 5 holes. How would I go about establishing a pattern datum when I've already specified that those holes are individual datums?

TIA!

RE: Defining an individual datum and pattern datum at same time

Add another datum feature symbol with a new designation under the callout for the hole. No doubt there will be complaints.

I was considering anchoring the pattern datum symbol to the individual datum symbol. but our software won't allow it. That was the only way I could think of to account for the feature quantity, since it is specified at the individual datum instead of at the beginning of the dimension.

I'm leaning toward anchoring the individual datum to the hole outline (specifying 5X INDIVIDUALLY) and leaving the hole dimension callout to establish the pattern datum.
Anyone see any issues with this?

RE: Defining an individual datum and pattern datum at same time

Could you attach your callouts to separate holes?

One would say "5 X HOLE-SO-AND-SO DATUM X"
Second "datum Y 5 X INDIVIDUALLY" attached to different hole (out of 5, maybe even different view, like section)
