RE: ...another strong earthquake in Mexico

Aside from hoping the lessons learned and implemented from the 1985 quake prove effective (32 years ago to the day!), I saw this clip of a classic soft story failure: https://imgur.com/J0h9ONu Really hits home how poor a soft story is in a seismic event.

Also, this video of a sudden failure of the vertical capacity of the structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvdTZt95leY

Lots of new lessons to be learned with this one I'm sure.

Edit: Sorry Ingenuity, just saw that you also noted the coincidental day as well.

RE: ...another strong earthquake in Mexico

The last time I was in Mexico City (it was several years ago) we stayed about 60 miles South of the city, which would place it close to where the quake must have hit. I didn't recognize any of the places that I've seen on the news but I was only there a couple of days and we spent most of the daylight hours actually in the city, at the GM headquarters building.
