RE: Conversion of non structure shad to a structure shad

(OP)
shad means the overhang portion of concrete which is usually provided to protect from sun and rain
Basically i provide RCC shad on the first floor which i design as non structural element that time i do not want to construct second story but now i intend to construct second story for which i want to change the shad to structural element ..i think it is now clear

RE: Conversion of non structure shad to a structure shad

Still not very clear. It has never been a non structural element. It should have been reinforced to carry its own dead weight plus some live load. That makes it a structural element. If the load will change by adding a second story, the existing overhang must be analyzed for the new load. If adequate, there is no need to change anything. If not, then appropriate remedial measures must be taken.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but does shad mean shade as in sunshade?
