"R' Stamp Question

"R' Stamp Question

"R' Stamp Question

(OP)
Our company is looking at getting an "R" stamp for repairing our own pressure vessels. What are the necessary steps and is this a costly endeavor? Can we have a company employee be the Authorize Inspector or are we required to a have third party inspector?

Thanks

RE: "R' Stamp Question

All your questions can be answered by visiting the national board of boiler and pressure vessel inspectors web site.

RE: "R' Stamp Question

The steps to take will be somewhat similar to the steps taken to get your U stamp. Speak with your Authorized Inspector. In our case it is the same inspector for both U and R stamps. Your AI can guide you. It's not cheap.

Do you have an idea on costs?

Off the top of my head I believe it to be a few to several thousand if you are starting from scratch. It really depends. Call up your AI and have him give you some information.
