Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

(OP)
Good evening,
Would you like please to explain me this picture below, is there any effect if there is a tank and no tank for pumping water. The elevation of both incharge and discharge pipe from these two pump is the same. (Ladies and gentlemen, I am not native speaker, hopefully you describe it with daily languange)

Is pump head A bigger since there is an additional force to handle (due water weight inside the tank) than pump head B?
Is pump head A equal to pump head B?

Regards,
Victor

RE: Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

The discharge head of each pump will be the same. In theory, since the tank would act as a much larger diameter section of pipe, there would be slightly less head required for pump A (so small it isn't worth evaluating).

RE: Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

Agree,

no difference in terms of the pump.

The actual total WEIGHT of the tank will be higher than without, but the head or PRESSURE will be the same as it makes no difference so long as the elevation of the outlet pipes are the same.

I think you are confusing weight(force) with pressure (force per unit area)

Remember - More details = better answers
Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

RE: Selecting Pump for Tank and non Tank

Think of the tank on Pump A as a large diameter pipe section. Depending on the other pipe diameters, this could significantly reduce the dynamic head when compared to Pump B.

I used to count sand. Now I don't count at all.
