Chassis Modelling

Chassis Modelling

Chassis Modelling

(OP)
Hi to All,

My Name is Angelos, i am on the beginning of my career and i have a simple problem. I am using ansys to make a model of a bus chassis. This consists of rectangular beams(hollowed)! I knew that i could model these with BEAM161 Element Type, but my version of Ansys 5.4 does not have it! I tried BEAM4 or BEAM24 (putting Iyy, A, Izz, where appropriate), but after solving the plots of stress at the SX (we are speaking for a simple horizontal beam fixed on the one side and force acts on the other) are coming red without any results(only DMX)!!
Could you please suggest me something!!Thank you in advance!!

RE: Chassis Modelling

hi astranz

well yoyu can first decide how many intermediate points u wanna see for the streses at beam, then in the keypoints option turn the key points for 3,5,7,9 intermediate points,

& then in the solution menu, go for element tables & prepare the sequence table for the corresponding points.

& then plot the tables,

However if u model the surface model & apply the shell elements with the combintion of spring elements for suspension, U will get the better results for ur boundary conditions.

Regards
Ashin
