Wellhead growth

Wellhead growth

Wellhead growth

(OP)
Does anyone know of any methods for calculating the axial displacement at a conductor (pile) head due to thermal expansion? This is also known as wellhead growth. The thermal expansion results from operating conditions where there is a large temperature range which causes expansion of the conductor. The expansion is resisted by the soil and any weight on the top of the wellhead.

I was thinking the method might be along the lines of a thermal conductivity-volumetric expansion relationship to calculate the conductor movement, and then those movements would be applied to the soil springs (z-shifts) to calculate the net displacement after accounting for soil resistance. I'd be interested to know what the standard methods used are.
