Suspended Manhole
Suspended Manhole
(OP)
Hello hi,
I encounter this issue in my project. Due to insufficient space, services such as manholes, grease traps etc will be inside the building which is on the ground floor. This building has basement also. Therefore, we need to construct the manholes to be suspended on the ground floor. So basically we need to provide deep beams to support this manhole?
However, client and architect do not like to have deep beams here. and another consultant propose to have steel manholes etc. Have this ever been done?
Thanks for your opinion.

I've done that with an elevator pit suspended from a cast-in-place concrete floor structure with a large crawlspace below...staying above expansive clay material below.
