Dear All,
I have done the thermal stress analysis remelting process using APDL. In post processing which stress should I extract. since my material brittle should I go for principal stress or vonmises stress. Please do suggest me.

RE: FEA, thermal stress analysis, brittle material

Max. Principal stress is usually reserved for brittle materials. von Mises criteria is for ductile materials, where they can yield and have interactions between their different stress directions.
