Specifying Fasteners for Clay Brick

Specifying Fasteners for Clay Brick

Specifying Fasteners for Clay Brick

(OP)
Can't seem to find anything with an ICC-report that referenced clay brick, but have found MFR literature that does give some load tables (Powers Wedge+ and Hilti HLC Sleeve). I know Hilti has an Epoxy load table for Brick (I think it is the HY 70), bit it requires some gnarly embedment which is unreasonable for what we are attaching.

Is there any precedence for using anchors in Clay Brick other than these? I have something super small to attach to brick, and even a TAPCON would be fine, but there aren't actually any load tables for other fasteners. Same with something like a Red Head Trubolt or Trublt +. I don't even need an ICC at this ppint, just some more options for anchors with clay brick load tables.

RE: Specifying Fasteners for Clay Brick

If it's something small toss in some tapcons and proof load them with an appropriate factor of safety.

RE: Specifying Fasteners for Clay Brick

What is "small"? How is it small but also require a "gnarly" embedment? Can you consider toggle bolts or some other thru-bolt?

Who is requiring the ICC-ES report? If it is just you looking for it, I would consider not being so restrictive.
